iOmniscient Scoops Innovation Award for Slashing First Responder Times by 80%

iomniscient innovation award Rustom KangaAn analytics platform that slashed response times from 25 minutes to five minutes has won a prestigious award for innovation.

Developed by iOmniscient the Automated Surveillance Action Platform (ASAP™) won the award for most innovative information and communication technology at the Australian Innovation Challenge 2014.

Drawing on data from surveillance cameras – without human agency – the VMS recognises when something is awry and automatically locates and alerts the nearest available police vehicle, fire appliance or other ambulance.

It even sends them a video of the incident with instruction on how to reach it – giving emergency services strong situational awareness. As well as slashing response times by 80% the automated system reduced the workload of control room staff.

The Australian Innovation Challenge is run by The Australian newspaper in association with Shell, with the support of the Australian Department of Industry.

Emerging from a hundreds of entries the five finalists were judged against criteria such as technological excellence, novelty, level of international impact, sustainability and evidence of an explicit strategy for securing public adoption and use.

“We are proud to contribute to a smarter and safer future with the help of our patent-pending technology that reduces response times for emergency services by up to 80%.

“It helps to make the user more productive and effective in supporting the public when there are accidents and other emergencies,” says iOmniscient MD Ivy Li.
