Taking place in the Godfrey Mitchell Theatre at the Institution of Civil Engineers the event will feature speakers from the Association of Specialist Fire Protection, the Fire Protection Association, the Institution of Fire Engineers, Local Authority Building Control and Arup, whose associate director of Fire Engineering, Neal Butterworth will deliver the keynote address.
The event, which is being organised by global paints and coatings manufacturer Sherwin-Williams, builds on the insights generated during a round table debate held earlier in the year.
The round table discussion – the key findings of which IFSEC Global reported on – centred on the issue of responsibility for fire engineering safety throughout the building supply chain from the architect through to the installing contractor.
Among those affected by the issue are architects, estimators and building control. The Institution of Fire Engineers has also been holding discussions into the subject.
Sherwin-Williams, which supports the introduction of a third-party scheme to regulate the design process, is fostering discussion among the industry’s leading professionals as to how the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 can be better enforced.
