ASFP Announces CPD Seminar for Fire Door Safety Week

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has announced dates for its latest regional CPD seminars.

Taking place on 16 September – during the British Woodworking Federation’s Fire Door Safety Week – at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Headquarters in Eastleigh Hampshire the event will provide essential advice on the specification, installation, inspection and maintenance of passive fire protection products.

The seminar will be useful to practising fire risk assessors, responsible persons, local authorities, facilities managers, building control and care home providers.

Held in association with the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service the event also aims to raise awareness of passive fire protection

Called Understanding Passive Fire Protection the seminar will comprise presentations from technical experts from across the fire sector on the role of fire doors, frames and fire seals; door hardware maintenance and replacement; fire-resistant glazing; fire ducts and dampers; structural fire protection; compartment wall penetrations and firestopping; and an introduction to fire safety awareness for landlords.

Each event will cost £45 plus VAT, including lunch. ASFP and BWF members can book at a special rate of £30 plus VAT. A £5 donation from every booking will be made to the Children’s Burns Trust.

Fire Door Safety Week, which takes place from 14-20 September 2015, aims to raise awareness of the essential role of fire doors, not least the grave consequences of poor installation and maintenance.

Meanwhile, BM TRADA is holding a free half-day seminar on fire protection mesasures at the University of Birmingham on 8 September.

Fire Protection Measures– Understanding Your Responsibilities  will outline the duties of a Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) and raise awareness of passive fire protection.
