Axis Communications Launches Surveillance Network Cameras for Hazardous Environments

Axis announces new range of network cameras specially built for hazardous environmentProduct in a nutshell: The newly launched range of network cameras offers explosion protection, full HD image quality, remote accessibility and continuous 360° pan-tilt.

Sectors/verticals: Suited to video surveillance monitoring of onshore, offshore, marine, and heavy industrial environments, such as the oil and gas industry, as well as dusty environments, such as paper and textile industries.

Features:

  • Full HD resolution: For better clarity and colour fidelity while monitoring.  
  • Special explosion-protected housings and design: Both the XF40-Q1765 fixed network camera and XP40-Q1765 PTZ Network Camera feature specially developed 316L stainless steel housing that is certified for hazardous areas by ATEX, IECEx, cLCus and Class I, II/Div 1 for OSHA. The housings prevent any inside spark or explosion from escaping and igniting gases or dust in the surrounding air.
  • Explosion protection accessories: Can also be equipped with certified, explosion-protected accessories, such as wall mounts, pole-top brackets and a pressurised washer tank.
  • Remotely accessible: The cameras also offer flexibility for remote accessibility through any existing IP-based networks.
  • Continuous 360° pan-tilt: The XP40-Q1765 network camera offers continuous 360° pan-tilt.

Compatibility: The cameras are also supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner Program and the AXIS Camera Station. Also offers high level of flexible integration with other equipment, such as access control and fire alarms.

Manufacturer says: “With the new explosion protected network cameras we are offering plant managers in the oil, gas, chemical processing, paper and textile industries a powerful video surveillance monitoring solution for hazardous areas,” says Erik Frännlid, director of product management at Axis Communications.

Availability: The explosion protected network cameras and their accessories are expected to be available before the end of 2015 through Axis’ usual distribution channels.
