Blast-Resistant Doors are First to Pass New Government Certification

CSI Safetell’s blast and fire-resistant doors have achieved the highest certification level of all manufacturers that submitted samples in new Government tests.

The CSI Safetell ‘Stronghold Plus’ was tested to destruction – or rather, they failed to destruct, as the manufacturer’s intended – by government-appointed experts at a secure specialist facility in the North of England in September 2014.

Passing the test to achieve a designation of ‘Minimum Risk – Very High Protection’ the steel doors are the first and only such doors to be certified to the latest standard.blast door

The doors had to withstand 500kgs worth of explosive – the kind of force you’d expect from a lorry packed full of explosives – from 28 metres.

The Stronghold Plus door has now been entered on to the Government’s supplier register for blast-resistant solutions. The door is also bullet resistant, intrusion resistant, and has a four hour fire rating to BS476 (Part 22).

“Terrorism and criminal selection of softer targets are driving the need for improved protection, including blast resistant doors,” says Safetell Managing Director Anton Pieterse.

“The Stronghold Plus door is an obvious choice for buildings that may be at risk and can offer additional protection against bullets, intrusion and fire.”
