George Clooney’s 18 CCTV Cameras Rile Neighbours

George.Clooneywiki1George Clooney has apparently failed to charm his neighbours to work his way around to get the CCTVs installed in his country home in Sonning Eye, Oxfordshire.

Clooney’s neighbours are worried that once installed the 18 CCTVs may lead to infringement of the neighbouring property’s privacy, according to reports in the local newspaper the Henley Standard.

Out of the total number of CCTV cameras Clooney and his wife Amal have sought permission to install about 8 cameras will be installed on wooden poles in the adjoining grounds of Mill House and the remaining ten for surveillance within the property. Clooney purchased this historically significant property for £10 million in October 2014.

Locals believe that the security cameras will infringe upon the privacy of the neighbouring properties and is in conflict with the village’s conservation area.

“A more appropriate security system could be achieved by a greater number of inward-facing, low-level cameras,” said the complaint from Eye and Dunsden Parish Council.

The right to take the final call on the dispute remains with the South Oxfordshire district council, one of whose officers has recommended approval given the condition that said cameras should be able to easily dismantle from the buildings.

The current dispute isn’t the only one that the Clooneys’ have landed in with their neighbours. Two months ago residents objected to the couple’s request for a new swimming pool, pool house, home cinema, a replacement river house and new boundary fencing which was later granted approval by the district council despite the opposition it met with the parish council, according to a report published in The Guardian.
