GJD Manufacturing is showcasing its latest technologies – including external PIR and Dual-Tech motion detectors, professional CCTV IR and White Light LED illuminators, FenceSecure Perimeter Intrusion Detection – at IFSEC Southeast Asia
When: 3-5 September 2014 Where: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia
GJD Manufacturing MD Mark Tibbenham tells IFSEC Global about the company’s plans for IFSEC Southeast Asia, which runs from 3-5 September in Kuala Lumpur.
IFSEC Global.com: Why is it important for you to attend IFSEC Southeast Asia?
Mark Tibbenham: This is a relatively new market for us; where we will have the opportunity to create awareness and reinforce brands, reach out and “touch the coal face” of this exciting and growing market sector.
IG: What are your main goals for the 2014 show?
MT: Meet existing customers, introduce new products and find new distributors for selected ASEAN countries.
IG: In previous years IP, hybrid solutions and video analytics have been dominant show themes. Is there a key theme you think might characterise the 2014 event?
MT: External security and perimeter surveillance. As in the rest of the world we’re definitely seeing a surge in favour of implementing professional perimeter protection systems.
The benefits of detecting a possible intruder at the perimeter, or in the boundary, rather than when they have already broken into a building, is surely preferable. We have also noticed increasing demand for discrete LED IR and/or white-light illuminators to aid CCTV recordings.
IG: What solutions and products will you be showcasing on your stand at IFSEC Southeast Asia?
MT: External PIR and Dual-Tech motion detectors used as CCTV triggers or intruder pre-alarms.
Professional CCTV IR and White Light LED illuminators. FenceSecure Perimeter Intrusion Detection.
IG: Are there any particular audiences you are targeting this year – eg, installers, end users, integrators…?
MT: All, but our main route to market is through distribution so we are keen to meet with potential distributors as well as specifiers and consultants, so we may better understand specific technology
IG: Which particular vertical segments are most interesting for you right now?
MT: Alternative energy facilities and their security requirements – eg, wind turbine fields and solar panel farms. These are growing vertical markets and prone to security and vandalism threats.
IG: In your opinion, what’s the biggest challenge the security industry currently faces?
MT: The lack of skilled technicians and engineers means the onus is certainly on manufacturers to use the plethora of technology at our disposal to create security solutions that are intuitive and easy to install and commission.
IG: What’s your company doing to satisfy the corporate social responsibility/green agenda?
MT: As manufacturers we care deeply about the environment and continually review production and logistics processes to be as ‘green’ as we can.
We also have a strong and sincere commitment to our staff and want to see them advance in their careers. As an example we have employed three apprentices, two of whom have now completed their training and taken up permanent roles within the company.
IG: Do you participate in IFSEC shows in other regions?
MT: Yes. Reputable events like IFSEC attract exactly the right audiences. The IFSEC brand is strong and has an excellent reputation.
Attending events like IFSEC in locations around the world allows us an annual opportunity to meet face to face with all our loyal customers at one venue.
Before or after the show we can also spend time attending regional site visits or giving product training.
