When: 3-5 September 2014
Where: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia

The Inspector General of Royal Malaysia Police has endorsed IFSEC Southeast Asia with the show just days away.

Taking place in Kuala Lumpur between 3-5 September, the region’s premier security and fire event harnesses a decade of experience accrued by its predecessors, the International Security & Safety Expo Forum (ISF) and Fire Expo and Conference (FIREC).

The show is also a global partner of UK-based IFSEC International, which is widely recognised as the world’s leading security and fire protection event.

“Law enforcers in this era face the continuous challenge of more sophisticated criminal activities, due in part to the increased access to information and improved communication technologies which have enabled today’s criminals to form complex networks and plan organised crime,” said Inspector General of The Royal Malaysia Police Tan Sri Khalid.

“Today, criminals can deploy the most advanced technologies to carry out an endless array of possible crimes – the latest being identify thefts and online extortion. These technologies are usually meant to be undetectable and untraceable.

“Keeping updated on the ever-changing face of technology has proven effective in thwarting criminal efforts that would use the same mastery to break the law. This year’s Government Security and Enforcement Section at IFSEC SEA 2014 are timely and will once again showcase some of the world’s cutting-edge crime prevention technology.”

IFSEC SEA has strong support from local and international bodies such as the Ministry of Home Affairs Malaysia, Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing & Local Government Malaysia, PDRM, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Asian Professional Security Association (APSA, Malaysia Chapter), British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS, Malaysia Chapter).

More than 300 companies from 36 countries will gather at the event, including Axis Communications, Comnet, Panasonic, Dell, Samsung, Microsoft and GJD, among others.

IFSEC SEA will also feature the Cybersec Asia pavilion, which showcases data protection, banking and financial fraud and other cyber security products and solutions.

The event is expected to attract 7,500 visitors across three days.

The IFSEC Global Security Technology Showcase – formerly known as ISTEC – will include talks from Mohd Zabri Adil Bin Talib, head of digital forensics at CyberSecurity Malaysia; Gord Loney, VP, product sales of Senstar Corporation; Irena Haryono, sales team lead, GMO GlobalSign Pte Ltd; Ryan Tan, executive director from Samsung Techwin.

In conjunction with IFSEC SEA, the Asian Professional Security Association (APSA – Malaysia Chapter) will hold a two-day conference called ‘For A Secured Future, The Time Is Now’.

Covering six topics and a panel discussion, the conference will feature renowned speakers such as Y.Bhg General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed, Chairman of Cyber Security Malaysia, YDH SAC Mohd Kamarudin Bin Md Din, Deputy Director (Cyber/Multimedia Crime Investigation) Commercial Crime Investigation Department of Royal Malaysia Police, and many more.

After the conference an APSA recognition dinner will host YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi, Minister of Home Affairs as the guest of honour.
