Qognify Launches Object Origin After Acquiring NICE Systems’ Physical Security Business Unit

Qognify – NICE Security’s new moniker after its acquisition by global technology investment firm Battery Ventures – has launched a new video monitoring and analytics tool.

Launched at ASIS 2015 Object Origin can analyse hours of recorded surveillance video within seconds to detect suspicious objects or vehicles.

The solution has already won an award, triumphing in ASIS Accolades Security’s Best Award during ASIS International’s California-based event. The ASIS Accolades award recognises the security industry’s most innovative products, services and solutions.

Qognify Object Origin provides rapid video replays of, for example, who left a bag unattended and when or how and when a suspicious vehicle was parked, thus helping operators distinguish genuine threats from false alarms.

Object Origin is therefore pitched not only as an efficient means of identifying threats but also to prevent needless, expensive evacuations, business continuity disruptions and facility shutdowns. It also, claims the manufacturer, significantly reduces the amount of time needed to identify the appearance of a suspicious object by automating the process.

“Time, accuracy, and thoroughness are of the essence in critical situations and Object Origin is yet another innovative application that provides our customers with unprecedented operational intelligence, enhancing security and safety,” said Moti Shabtai, who IFSEC Global interviewed recently and who becomes President of Qognify following the acquisition of NICE Systems’ Physical Security Business Unit, where he was general manager.

“It has broad applications and will be especially valuable to security authorities responsible for transportation hubs, municipalities, tourist sites and high-traffic commercial areas. Qognify’s Object Origin will make a real difference, both in terms of public safety and business continuity.”

In conjunction with Qognify Suspect Search Object Origin can accelerate the search for a person of interest, whether a potential criminal suspect or missing person. Object Origin identifies individuals with a suspicious object in their possession, while Suspect Search then tracks the person in question to their last known location or current whereabouts. Security personnel can then be dispatched to track down the suspect without the need for a thorough, time-consuming search of the entire premises.

Battery Ventures established an independently operating business called Qognify to replace the Nice Security brand following the acquisition of NICE Systems’ Physical Security Business Unit.

Qognify helps clients capture, analyse and leverage big data in a wide range of verticals – including banks, utilities, transport and major events – to anticipate, manage and mitigate security and safety risks, maintain business continuity and optimise operations.

Qognify president Moti Shabtai is joined by Adam Markin, former Battery Ventures executive in residence who is the new chairman of Qognify.

Qognify is headquartered in New Jersey with offices in London and Singapore and an R&D centre in Israel.
