Four Days Left to Enter the Security & Fire Excellence Awards

security excellence 2013

The great and the good of security will be joined by their counterparts in fire safety at 2014’s awards

The closing date for applications to the Security and Fire Excellence Awards is just five days away.

Anyone in the fire or security industry with a product, service or initiative they’re proud of has until 11am on 15 September to submit their entry.

Organised by UBM Live the latest edition celebrates the fire-safety industry’s achievements alongside their security counterparts.

The fire-safety categories, which cover a broad spectrum of services and products, recognise the achievements of a UK industry whose safety record ranks among the best in the world.

And the marriage of security with fire mirrors the close relationship between UBM’s sister events, IFSEC International and FIREX International, as well as the growing integration between fire and security systems.

The contributions of fire and rescue, trade/professional bodies or private sector firms who have made a difference to UK fire safety through campaigns or initiatives will be recognised by the Community Fire Safety Project of the Year.

The Active Product Innovation of the Year category, meanwhile, will recognise innovative passive fire protection products that make the built environment a safer place.

The complete list of fire-safety categories is as follows:

  • Community Fire Safety Project of the Year
  • Integrated Security & Fire Solution of the Year
  • Fire Detection and Alarm Project of the Year
  • Fire Engineering Project of the Year
  • Fire Safety Manager of the Year
  • Passive Fire Protection Project of the Year
  • Passive Fire Protection Product of the Year
  • Active Product Innovation of the Year

“The good work that goes on in the fire sector often goes unnoticed and therefore is not formally recognised and celebrated,” says Simon Ince, strategic alliance and partnership manager at fire-safety certification body Warrington Certification Ltd.

“By having an awards evening the hard work and achievements of those who make a difference in fire safety, be it to life safety or property protection, gives the sector a way of showing just how good we are.

“I expect the competition to attract some great entries and don’t envy those judges who will need to select the shortlist and winners from what will be a high quality field.”

The awards ceremony takes place at Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London on Thursday 27 November 2014.

If this deadline is too tight to enable you to complete a thorough entry, do contact the organizers and let them know that you want to submit and when you think you would be able to complete your full submission. They will hopefully be able to give strong submissions a little more time. Having said that most categories have quite short submissions that could be completed in a few hours; so please do enter if you have something that sets you apart as a UK leading service provider or manufacturer. Good Luck!
