Snow gritters destroyed in electrical fire
A fire in a council-owned warehouse earlier this month has ruined a number of Harrogate’s gritters.
At least three of the gritters held at Claro Road Industrial Estate were destroyed, and around 100 square metres of the building suffered fire damage.
The blaze is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault inside one of the LGV vehicles.
The fire, which started around 8.30 pm on 17 January, needed 20 firefighters to bring it under control.
It was extinguished just before 10 pm.
