The procurement process for equipment is currently underway, informed a BSF spokesperson on the sidelines of the force level commander conference. The spokesperson also told that a decision on vehicles suitable for the international border’s challenging terrain is also in the pipeline.

Chaired by BSF Director General D K Pathak the conference saw the attendance of all five ADGs, 19 IGs and Director, Pay and Accounts department of the BSF.

Other issues that formed part of the discussion included the land boundary agreement and the issues faced in exchanging the adversely possessed land and enclaves with Bangladesh.

The issue relating to the growing menace of cross-border terrorism along the Eastern and Western borders and strategies on how best to limit such occurrences was also part of the discussion.

A spokesperson also pointed out that a meeting took place between the BSF Director General (DG) and Meghalaya Governor and Chief Sectary where the DG asked the state government to provide electricity for floodlights along the border.
