A Triumphant Day for VSG as it Scoops Nearly Half of BSIA Security Personnel Awards 2016

The BSIA Security Personnel Awards 2016 were a resounding success for one firm in particular.

Staff and teams from Northampton-based security services specialist VSG claimed nearly half of the accolades – eight out of 17 – on offer.

The winners, which were announced at the BSIA’s annual luncheon on Tuesday night, also included exceptional individuals and teams from the Westgrove Group, Mitie Security, G4S, Kings Security Systems, Sight & Sound Security Solutions and OCS Group.

Now in their 18th year the awards were set up by the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) to recognise the often unsung achievements of security personnel who diligently protect people and assets against a range of threats. The world’s first amputee ultra-distance runner, Chris Moon, delivered a moving keynote speech and presented the gongs.

“The security industry remains essential in safeguarding our nation, the success of which is determined by the exceptional personnel that work within it,” said BSIA CEO James Kelly (number eight in our countdown of the most influential figures in the security industry). “We at the BSIA pride ourselves on representing the very best of the security industry and the outstanding contributions made by this year’s award winners clearly demonstrates this.

“We receive a huge volume of nominations every year and the judging process is always very difficult. The standard of applications this year has been as high as ever and we are extremely proud to be associated with the talent displayed by our winners.”

Camberford Law, specialist insurance brokers to the security industry, once again sponsored the event, as they have done since its inception.

Said David Ottewill, managing director of Camberford Law: “It is important to recognise and reward the hard work and efforts of those dedicated professionals within the security industry. As such, we were very proud to once again sponsor this year’s awards.”

Meanwhile, John Davies, managing director for TDSi Ltd and Chairman of the BSIA’s Export Council, also scooped a Chairman’s Award for Contribution to Exporting.
