Abloy UK marks 10th anniversary of the Abloy Academy

Abloy UK, the developer of electric and mechanical locking solutions, is celebrating a decade since launching its training Academy.

Providing education on compliance and standards for topics like emergency and panic escape, the Abloy Academy was created in 2009 to raise standards in how its technologies are used and awareness of the importance of compliance.

Course leaders are experts in locks and door opening solutions and influential in developing standards and legislation through their work with the British Standards Institute (BSI) and European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).

Academy certification provides evidence of a professional’s competence and specialist product knowledge. The Academy provides two core courses: Foundations and Foundations Plus, which explore European and British Standards in detail, to help attendees commit to specifying compliant solutions.

CPD points

Courses, which are interactive, are held at the Abloy UK headquarters in Willenhall in class sizes of 15-20 participants. They are free of charge, provide CPD points and promise two years’ validity on industry standards.

The Academy notifies past delegates when a regulation is updated with an invitation to a refresher course.

“Abloy UK has a strong reputation for producing security solutions of superior quality,” said Pat Jefferies, Commercial Director at Abloy UK. “However, the high performance of products can only be realised by the abilities of the people who specify and install them.

“As legislation is constantly evolving, the need to educate the industry is always present, and the development of standards means emergency escape access control specifiers must continue to refresh their knowledge.

“Ultimately, this isn’t just about conforming to standards for the sake of it – lives are put at risk when an emergency escape system is not complaint. Through teaching at the Academy, I can sleep comfortably at night, knowing that I have done my part to help people safely escape from a building if they need to.”

Abloy UK is exhibiting at IFSEC International 2019, taking place 18-20 June 2019 at ExCeL London (stand IF644). Book your free ticket now.
