Modern in style, compact and robust, the VCODE100 keypad from Vantage is designed for installations which require simple and functional access control.
With a blue numeric illumination, the keypads are designed to fit into domestic or commercial properties. They are standalone with a surface mounted, vandal resistant metal cast body and have 100 programmable operation codes.
Weather resistant to IP65, they are pre-cabled (three metres) with free input voltage (12-24AC or 12-48DC), two relay outputs (N/O and N/C 5, latch or timed) and are fully programmable via the keypad.

Access and audio kit
The latest addition to the Videx Security range combines the Smart Line telephone from the 3000 Series range with the new 4000 Series modular door panel.
Including an AC power supply, this is said to create a high quality and robust door entry kit combined with coded access.
A down lit keypad can store up to eight digit codes. Three relays are included on the keypad along with two push-to-exit inputs. The door panel also includes an audio amplifier , call button with name plate and call tone generator.

Baldwin Boxall has redesigned its Vigil Eclipse wall mountable voice alarm/public address system. Despite being smaller, the new Eclipse2 can handle up to seven single or four dual circuit zones.

Remote interest
Inner Range has launched SCWAC, an application of its GSM modem unit which is said to be ideal for empty, remote locations. This provides a way of supplying immediate alarm protection in sensitive areas.
The SCWAC is placed in a sensitive area with wireless detectors positioned around the location. If an alarm occurs it can communicate with central stations or mobile phones. Typical applications are empty buildings, caravans, boats, marquees, police safe houses, stables, vehicles and temporary buildings.

Get Smart with Vista
Vista has increased its Smart range of systems to include a SmartControl Event Management System and SmartMobile remote transmission system.
SmartControl is a high performance alarm management tool that controls up to nine operator stations. This client-server system features dynamic alarm processing and database.
SmartMobile is a remote transmission system which accommodates four and ten cameras and offers “all the benefits of remote transmission and digital recording with the added benefit of being truly mobile by meeting the Vibration Approvals EN50155.” It records on to a removable hard disk drive.

Heavy duty operator
A new heavy duty door operator from Abloy Security has been designed especially for use in high density pedestrian traffic areas such as hospitals, airports, hotels, shopping centres and public buildings.
The DA361 can be used on external and internal doors , both single and double and, meeting the requirements of EN13501-2 and EN1634-1 standards, is suitable for fire doors. It can be directly connected to a fire alarm system.
Operators have a PSU, motor control board, door closing mechanism and position sensors in a single, compact, robust unit.

When the lights are low
Samsung Techwin has introduced the SPD-3300 camera which comes equipped with 30x optical auto focus zoom lens, providing an overall motorised zoom capability of 240 times with the built-in 8x digital zoom.
The camera can recognise subjects at “incredibly low” lighting conditions says the company. Minimum illumination of 0.4Lux @ F1.6 is achieved in colour and 0.08Lux @ F1.6 mono.
Day and night capability means that the camera “provides colour images in significantly low lighting conditions at full frame rate when other cameras have switched to mono”.

New to the network
Panasonic has added the new WV-NP240 Series IP network Camera to its System Solutions range. It has a wide range of features including SD memory card slot, alarm function for external security devices, digital motion detection, electronic zoom and microphone.
MPEG4 compatible, the camera is said to deliver smooth and seamless video footage and, because it is JPEG dual stream compatible, the images can be transmitted at up to 30 fps when using JPEG 640 x 480 (VGA). With progressive scan in both modes, images of moving subjects are captured in high fidelity, guaranteeing reliable, accurate image reproduction.
With the optional F1.2 lens, it operates confidently in lighting as low as 1.1 lux, says Panasonic.

New DVR is flagship
Dowshu says its new Icon 9000 DVR is “probably the first boxed DVR on the market with 16 channels recording at real time with D1 resolution.”
It uses MPEG4 compression hardware to enable simultaneous real time, 25fps recording at D1 (720 x 576 pixels ) resolution on 16 channels – including real time audio per channel.
Using the same control software as the 1000, 3000 and 7000 DVR range, the new unit capitalises on the company’s intuitive user interface and search and retrieval functions. Onboard storage is up to 2Tb and can be increased further using the Dowshu JBOD or RAID flexible storage systems. It is compatible with the Network DVR management system used to control multiple DVRs from a central location.

‘So easy to install’
Samsung Techwin’s new 3-axis colour dome camera is said to provide quality performance with “outstanding ease of installation”.
The SID-450 lens can be rotated or shifted horizontally or vertically for optimum positioning of the camera, making it flexible to install. The built-in 3X varifocal lens (f3-9mm) covers a wide range of viewing angles making it suitable for a variety of applications.
The company says it is able to capture crisp, clean images in light levels as low as 0.3Lux @ F1.2 in colour and “outstanding” low light operation to a maximum of 0.002Lux (128X Sens-up) using Winner III DSP chipset and SSNR noise reduction technology.

Too tough for vandals
Said to be perfect for use in locations where cameras are vulnerable to attack by vandals, the VRCD-5351 from Genie has a heavy duty cast aluminium body with high strength, impact resistant polycarbonate dome.
It uses a Sony 1/3 inch colour super HAD CCD image sensor and incorporates three axis positioning, day/night auto selection, selectable electronic shutter control, gain control and white balance and back light compensation.
This is all accessed via the built-in ‘on screen display’ menu. Genie digital noise reduction is available at four levels to significantly reduce noise and produce a high noise ratio and prevent ghost effects, says the company. Enhanced levels of identification are possible in low light such as vehicle number plate recognition.

Small is beautiful
The new PC375 1/3-inch CCD high resolution black and white board camera from Premier Electronics has been designed to provide high quality video pictures and excellent reliability.
The 520 TV lines camera is coupled with a full range of glass lenses, which Premier says removes the problems associated with plastic versions. “Three lines of QA ensure that every board PCB camera is verified individually to keep working for the lifetime of the camera,” Premier says. “The camera is on a board measuring 42mm x 42mm, and weighs just 15g, making it suitable for small space applications.
“Sensitivity is down to 0.2 or less, and the electronic iris ensures it can deal with difficult lighting conditions automatically. The camera draws just 120mA maximum from a 12-volt supply.”

Really super cameras
The new 81 Series from Merit Li-Lin is a range of super high resolution – 540 TVL – colour cameras, using Sony 1/3-inch Super-HAD or ExView CCD technology to provide “remarkable” low light performance.
The cameras incorporate an IR Cut Filter mechanism which automatically switches between colour during the day and mono at night. The eight privacy masking zones further enhance the 81 Series, allowing the user to avoid the inadvertent invasion of privacy.

Integrated control
Tyco Fire and Integrated Solutions – Traffic and Transportation has launched a next generation IP Control system offering a fully integrated control platform for security and surveillance applications including CCTV, access control, fire and intruder alarms, communications, and more.
Called Mosaic, the new ‘hybrid’ system allows control of both analogue and the latest IP-based digital equipment for easy integrated control of systems using a common graphical user interface.
Each PC-based GUI operator workstation can control live video from any mix of analogue or IP cameras, search and retrieve recorded video, handle alarms and events from multiple sources, and manage other connected systems such as access control, fire and intruder alarms, public address and intercoms. Operators can quickly select and drag any camera on a map-based display to any monitor, regardless of the camera type or manufacturer.

Hunt for DVRs
Hunt Electronic has launched two new DVRs, the 08/16MS and the 09/16MP.
The 08/16MS features USB and CDRW back up, Ethernet function, motion detection, one-channel audio input/output, a maximum two hard disk capability, with one removable, and records up to 50fps (field) or 100fps (CIF) for PAL. Image quality is selectable at four different recording levels, and it features manual/alarm recording modes.
The 09/16MP features CDRW back up, Ethernet function, motion detection, VGA output, video looping output, one-channel audio input/output, two hard disk capability with one removable, recording at up to 60fps (field) or 50fps for PAL, selectable image quality, and manual and alarm recording modes.

DVRs make Quantum leap
Vista has released eight and 16 channel versions of its popular Quantum DVR with built-in DVD drive.
“The Quantum combines many of the features characteristic of high-end DVR solutions whilst retaining a clear focus on the needs and priorities of smaller installations,” Vista says. “Now with four, eight or 16 channel inputs, the Vista Quantum is available in three models varying with the capacity of the units hard disk.”
The DVRs feature MPEG-4 compression, advanced alarm and recording options, and simultaneous playback, background image archiving and remote viewing capability. The units can display either a full screen picture or quad, nine way or 16 way displays.

Portable Rainbow
Rainbow says its DVC128 portable DVR with built-in high resolution digital camera offers “a low cost video capture facility” and records images using a 128MB Flash memory, which can be optimised in a motion detection mode.
“The versatility of the equipment, notably its adjustable detect sensitivity rate, makes it suited to varied usage, which includes deployment at shops, distribution centres, stock rooms, schools and public transport,” the company says.
The DVRs support both NTSC and PAL and resume recording automatically after power loss. An intuitive interface allows users to select image compression qualities – high, medium or low – and frame rates, according to the requirement of the location.

Flexible camera launch
DeView has released a new Bullet Day/Night IR camera. The CBDNI36F is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, and its mounting design allows flexible positioning during installation.
It features a 1/3-inch format CCD sensor with an 18x IR LED array in the 850Nm spectrum that has an effective range of 40 feet. The medium resolution camera has 330 TV Lines with an active pixel element of 510 x 492V. The lens specification is 3.6mm at F2.0 giving a 92 per cent field of view. Power requirement is DC 12v 4.5 watts.
The bullet camera ships complete with a sunshield and mount with top and bottom threads for ceiling, pedestal and wall mounting.

Plug and play kit
Challenger has released Q-vision, a simple plug and play digital CCTV system. Supplied as a complete solution, Q-vision CCTV systems comprise camera with cable, connectors and a power supply unit, to complement the range of digital video recorders with leads and adaptors for use with either standard TV or CCTV monitors.
A number of camera and DVR options are available depending on the application. A colour camera is available for internal use. For external use, a choice of three cameras is available, for standard range and long range, and a vandal resistant dome unit.

Sony goes 360 deg
Sony has launched its first intelligent network speed dome camera, offering 360 deg endless rotation, which allows users to precisely track objects surrounding the unit.
“The SNC-RX550P brings intelligence to the speed dome market, allowing busy security teams to gain more from their technology,” Sony says. “Intelligent Object Detection and Intelligent Motion Detection are two features that actively alert security personnel to incidents so they can turn their attentions to the relevant camera.
“High speed 360 deg endless panning and tilt with auto-flip allows uninterrupted viewing of a subject as it moves underneath the camera, enabling seamless surveillance of a person or moving object, the powerful 26x optical zoom allows users to focus in on small or distant objects with exceptional clarity.”

ANPR for Sirrus
Sirrus’ VideoConsole CCTV viewing software has been upgraded to enable the VEGA camera for automatic number plate recognition to be integrated and viewed within an existing IP CCTV network.
“Users of digital CCTV surveillance can now choose the convenience and quick deployment that the VEGA offers, while combining it with Sirrus IP network video recorders and other internal and external CCTV cameras,” Sirrus says. “There is no need for a separate PC for file transfer or database handling.”

Sony camera upgrade
Sony has launched the SNC-RZ50P, an intelligent PTZ camera, offering increased functionality, after the success of the SNC-RZ30P.
It has Intelligent Object Detection, which can recognise items that have been abandoned, and Intelligent Motion Detection, which allows the cameras to identify real moving objects, while disregarding environmental noise such as rain, AGC noise, trees blowing or moving water.
Its picture clarity is “ensured with Dynamic Frame Integration technology, which optimises the image acquisition for both stationary and moving image components at the same time”.
