Trade body Euralarm is holding an event in London on 15 March to highlight the potential impact on alarm signalling systems of the transition to all-IP communications networks.

Euralarm’s Task Group Next Generation Networks (NGN) has been set up to address issues arising from the transition of traditional PSTN telecom networks to all-IP communications networks happening across Europe.

Because the transition is occuring in stages, it is having significant impact on alarm signalling systems.

With this in mind, Euralarm members BSIA and FIA are hosting a forum on how changes to the UK telecoms network may affect the fire and security industry.

Held at UBM’s offices in Southwark, London the event will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear from a number of experts in the field.

In November 2017, the CSL Insurers’ Forum examined how the transition will transform business models and service delivery but also amplify the cybersecurity threat.

Euralarm Task Group NGN will also organise a workshop prior to the conference, to be held on 14 March, to develop an understanding of NGN progress across Europe.

The group will consider what guidance and direction is needed for industry members and their customers.

Euralarm members and other stakeholders and interested parties are invited to participate in the open forum or workshop (Euralarm members only). Details will be published on the Euralarm website. Info on the Open forum event will be available via the website of Euralarm’s British member BSIA.

Founded in 1970, Euralarm represents over 5,000 companies within the fire safety and security industries, valued together at €67 billion. Euralarm members are national associations and individual companies from across Europe.
