Whitepaper: Multi-residential access management – The move to digital

BAFSA, FIA and IWMA Announce Water Mist Seminar and BAFSA Releases Download on Sprinklers in Student Accommodation

The British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA), Fire Industry Association (FIA) and the International Water Mist Association (IWMA) are holding a seminar on the use of water-mist technology in fire protection.

Taking place at the BRE in Watford on 8 March 2016 the UK Water Mist Seminar is a one-day event during which speakers will outline the fields of application and discuss how systems are used and and maintenance requirements.

Delegates can update their knowledge on standards, guidelines and approvals and hear what the insurance industry has to say on the technology.

Manufacturers will also showcase the latest innovations in this area and contribute to the presentations.

The call for papers has just been released and the programme will be confirmed in December.

There is no admission fee to attend the event. Delegates can register via the Fire Industry Association website.

“Fire protection using watermist is a maturing technology,” says Bob Whiteley, chairman of the British Standard FSH18/5 Watermist Committee.

“This conference aims to educate and inform on how, why and where watermist fire protection works, and advise on best available practice being adopted  by the industry leaders and reflected in the new British Standards.

“Specifiers, designers, engineers, and auditors will benefit from the knowledge shared on the understanding of watermist fire protection technology and its effective application for domestic, residential, commercial and industrial applications.”

Meanwhile, BAFSA has also just published a document tackling the subject of deploying Fire Sprinklers in Student Accommodation, which comes soon after a fire destroyed a roof and two floors at student accommodation in Bristol city centre.
