The Next Gen in Security initiative was launched at International Security Expo (ISE) in November 2018. Since then the initiative has gone from strength to strength, with further shows participating including the Security and Counter Terrorism Expo (March), The Security Event at the NEC (April), and now IFSEC International on 18-20 June 2019.
The Next Gen in Security initiative has also engaged in a strategic partnership with the Careers Enterprise Company (a not for profit organisation funded by the Department of Education) to engage with their national programme and promote opportunities for the security sector to run events and help find work experience for young people.
Around 50 young people attend each Expo to experience first-hand what the world of security can offer them. They walk the floors then tell us what has inspired them. The kids have been drawn from the Volunteer Police Cadets, with children between the ages of 13-18, whom we are working with to build the concept and provide us with the ideal demographic to target;
As part of this initiative, Tony Porter has agreed to speak to police cadets at IFSEC International the morning of his Keynote address on the new ‘Secure by Default’ requirements on 20 June. This will take place at 8.45 and is also open to any apprentices and school leavers that may be attending IFSEC.
