Tips are given on getting the right certification; the legal obligations of relevant parties under the Housing Act 2004 and Regulatory Reform, Fire Safety Order (FSO) 2005; how to ensure the correct installation of fire doors; and keeping fire doors properly maintained on an ongoing basis.
“Even though a fire door’s correct specification, maintenance and management can be the difference between life and death for building occupants, they still remain a significant area of neglect,” said Martin Dickie, business development director at Door-Stop.
“Fire doors are often the first thing to be downgraded on a specification and mismanaged throughout their service life, propped open, damaged and badly maintained.
“The aim of our fact sheets is to provide accurate and clear information on where installers and building owners stand in terms of what they should be specifying when it comes to fire doors.”
