The installation of a new cyber-secure fire alarm system has been carried out by Acorn Fire & Security at Parcevall Hall in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Acorn team was called to Parcevall Hall after a report of repeated issues and callouts with its current fire alarm panel, costing the heritage site a considerable amount in upkeep and hassle, disrupting the tranquil nature of the Hall.
With 17 bedrooms, a chapel, quiet spaces for guests and business meetings, and 24 acres of grounds to cover, the new fire alarm solution needed to be easy to install and keep the estate’s aesthetics intact – a challenge when much of the legacy system was flush-mounted behind century-old walls and thick wooden beams.
The team opted for Eaton’s new xDetect range, designed to be simple to deploy and programme. The panel’s programming and installation was said to save Acorn considerable time and money without compromising Parcevall Hall’s aesthetics. Maintenance has been also simplified with the tablet-like interface, which allows on-site troubleshooting to be performed more efficiently. The system can also be easily expanded or updated if needed due to its modularity.
In addition, the solution is designed to protect data and assets from hacking attempts with cyber security credentials, while bringing a modern system to the Hall.
Dave Randle, Technical Design & Support, Acorn Fire & Security, commented: “We decided to use Eaton’s new xDetect range simply because it fits the requirements of our project in every way. The project brief was very thorough, and we couldn’t affect the integrity of Parcevall Hall in any way. The xDetect system was the best option on the market due to how easy it was to install and because it allowed the use of already installed infrastructure, which saved us a lot of time, money and headaches.”
