Watch: The skills crisis in fire and security engineering laid bare

The fire and security industries are not alone in facing a skills gap in terms of competent installers, technicians and engineers.

To meet the needs of the UK economy, some 1.8 million new engineers must be trained by 2025, according to research by Engineering UK.

To what extent Brexit will exacerbate this crisis further still remains to be seen – but that’s not something the fire and security sectors can do anything about. There are other steps being taken, however, to combat the crisis.

As well as outlining the problem, the video below explores some of these solutions pioneered by the likes of CSL, the NSI, the ECA, the BSIA, the FIA and SSAIB.
