Managing fire risk in commercial kitchens: Places still available for seminar

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) is running a seminar next month about Managing Fire Risk in Commercial Kitchens.

The seminar, which takes place on 11 December 2017 in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, was devised in support of a new loss prevention standard. Published in March 2017 LPS2084 covers requirements for the LPCB approval and listing of companies carrying out inspection, cleaning and maintainence of ductwork systems.

Kitchen fires can be particularly severe when traced to the ignition of grease in the extract ductwork system.

Running between 10am and 3:30pm the seminar will begin with a case study of a relevant fire, and thereafter outline the obligations of responsible persons under legislation, to include:

  • Common hazards such as damaged fire doors, inaccessible extinguishers, covered detectors, human error, poor standards of housekeeping and lack of suitable staff training.
  • The main components of commercial ductwork systems and the importance of regular cleaning in helping to prevent fire spread.
  • Automatic suppression systems and the role they can play.
  • Emerging technologies in managing fire risk in extract ductwork systems.

Book your place on the course for £195.

Every planning department at local council level should know about this and already have knowledge of THEIR responsibity as they agree to designs where extracts are installed .
Personally I feel that it’s time for personal insurance to be placed at their disposal rather than the public purse ,but feel that the insurance market would spread the load rather than Impose the true cost to so called professionals.
