Master Lock launches elderly-friendly, ‘no key-turn’ padlock: PushKey

Master Lock has launched a padlock requiring no key-turn to unlock, making it ideal for consumers that suffer joint problems such as arthritis.

The PushKey padlock requires less than 2.5kg of pull-down force, is simple to use and can be used by people with strength and dexterity challenges, such as the elderly, giving peace of mind to carers and relatives.

The lock is operated by a simple bumping action to the key head that opens and also closes the device without the need for tight grasping, or pinching, or twisting of the wrist.

The large and flat key head is easy to grip and a groove on the bottom of the padlock acts as a key guide, so that users with limited sight can insert the key.

The PushKey padlock can fit most school and hospital lockers, making it a suitable security solution for disabled students or hospital patients. Each lock includes four keys and two interchangeable key head covers.

The indoor, black padlock is made from zinc, whilst the hardened steel shackle is resistant to cutting and sawing.

The Master Lock 2650EURD PushKey Padlock is priced at £20.90 and is available from the firm’s EU website and from retailer Homebase and wholesaler Toolbank.
