To be held on an annual basis, National Security Technology Expo is an exhibition and conference providing a unique opportunity for representatives from across the US Government directly responsible for protecting the US’ air, sea and land borders to see the latest security technologies available.
Those technologies will emanate from within the USA but also encompass innovations devised by security leaders outside of the States.
In practice, this event will address the requirements for all the sectors of airport, border and maritime security and disaster management.
US Department of Homeland Security
Delegates and visitors to National Security Expo will include representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (TSA, US Coast Guard, Customs & Border Protection, FEMA), the FBI, police and law enforcement departments, airport and port authorities, the Department of Transportation and the DoD.
On the west coast of America lies a high concentration of US Government organisations and headquarters (including the 11th District Coast Guard hq and the US EOD School in San Diego).
San Diego airport is the busiest single runway commercial service airport in the US, while eight out of the top eleven of the world’s largest defence companies have a significant presence in San Diego County.
Alongside National Security Technology Expo 2012 there will be a conference featuring senior US and international Government speakers as well as a two-day Technology Workshop. The latter is scheduled to include a series of briefings by the Department of Homeland Security on the ongoing and future requirements of the US Government.
Day 2 of the Technology Workshop affords participants an opportunity to meet with Homeland Security personnel for more detailed discussions on how to communicate products and services available and outline their needs in relation to the First Responder community.
Access point to the US marketplace
“The US Homeland Security market is presently worth $69 billion,” commented James Blue, portfolio director for fire and security at UBM Live, “and that market value is forecast to rise to $85 billion by 2014.”
Blue continued: “National Security Technology Expo presents an ideal access point to the US market for both international and US security companies. The event is going to promote international innovation and technology in the fight against terrorism, criminal activity and the threat of chemical and biological attack.”
He added that UBM’s vast experience in providing events and media channels to the security market in the UK, India, South Africa, West Africa and Saudi Arabia will ensure the running of an exhibition that “sits at the heart of this dynamic market”.
The conference, workshops and a comprehensive cross-section of international exhibiting companies render National Security Technology Expo the optimum environment to showcase the latest security solutions to a relevant and receptive Government audience in what is the world’s largest Homeland Security market.
Focusing on the latest security technology
John Stuttard, the senior vice-president of UBM, has also aired his views on the new exhibition.
“UBM is one of the world’s leading event organisers with over 300 events worldwide and more than 40 events in the USA, including industry-leading brands such as Black Hat, Interop and Cruise Shipping Miami. National Security Technology Expo will be a unique event for the US Homeland Security market by dint of focusing on the latest security technology, its international content and also due to the fact that it will cover all sectors of airport, border and maritime security and disaster management.”
