MOBOTIX publishes Cyber Protection Guide for its customers

MOBOTIX has published a cybersecurity guide to help its customers strengthen the resilience of MOBOTIX products against cyber-attack.

Available as a free download on the MOBOTIX website, the Cyber Protection Guide gives steps on configuring cameras, video management software (VMS), network-attached storage (NAS) and the system as a whole to optimise cybersecurity protection.

The guide forms a key part of its recently launched Cactus Concept campaign to educate customers and partners about cybersecurity risks.

The German video surveillance company says its integrated and configuration tools minimise hacking opportunities when used in conjunction with firewalls, network segmentation and various other measures.

Video surveillance systems have been migrating onto IP networks for many years, but in the last two years cybersecurity has become a notably more dominant theme in the CCTV industry.

Vendors, including Hikvision, are making it the central theme of their roadshows.

In Europe, the impending GDPR has raised the stakes, while high profile breaches of surveillance and other physical systems has focused minds in the industry.

It was recently reported, for instance, that video footage from more than 500 cameras in UK schools, homes and businesses is being streamed on a freely accessible website.

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) has recently updated its CCTV code of practice.

Cyber-resilience aside, one of MOBOTIX’s key selling points is that it designs its hardware with no moving parts to extend the lifetime of its cameras, which become more powerful over time with periodic software upgrades.

MOBOTIX is exhibiting at IFSEC International, 19-21 June 2018, ExCeL London. You can find them on stand C310. Register now.
