Optex sensors integrated with Genetec control and command centre

Laser sensors from Optex can now be integrated with Genetec’s Restricted Security Area surveillance module for enhanced perimeter or area protection, either inside or outdoors.

The Redscan laser sensors send real-time events and alarm data to Genetec’s unified security platform, Security Center, alerting control room operators to any intrusion in the surveillance area. Intrusions can be tracked on site maps to help operators to respond to threats more quickly and accurately.

The sensors provide for highly customisable virtual walls and ceilings, which can be used to protect a perimeter line and specific areas. In the case of an airport, this might include entrances to hangars, gates and other restricted areas.

The virtual ceiling or panes can even help protect rooftops and open areas, as well as being able to detect objects thrown over partition walls between secured and unsecured areas.

The Redscan system is highly resistant to poor lighting and weather conditions, while the target can be defined by its size and speed, so doing away with potential false alarms caused by wildlife such as rabbits, rodents and birds.

“We are delighted with the integration of our laser detection sensor within the Genetec RSA surveillance module,” said Ryosuke Miwa, senior general manager of global security at Optex.

“Intrusion detection along the perimeter or a controlled area inside a building can play a critical role in an overall security solution. The integration adds another layer of awareness and control to the system’s operator.”

Genetec is exhibiting at IFSEC International, 19-21 June 2018, ExCeL London. Find them on stand (C200). Register now.
