Passive fire protection spring seminar programme from the ASFP and local authority building control

A series of regional CPD seminars on passive fire protection are being held during the spring around the UK by the ASFP and local authority building control.

Kicking off with a breakfast roll at 8:45am and finishing around 12:30pm, these free morning events – called ‘Understanding Passive Fire Protection’ – provide advice on all aspects of passive fire protection – from its specification and installation to inspection and maintenance.

The first event takes place on 26 April at the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre. Book your place here.

The programme includes presentations on all aspects of passive fire protection, including:

  • The role of fire doors, frames and fire seals
  • Door hardware maintenance and replacement
  • Fire-resistant glazing
  • Fire ducts and dampers
  • Structural fire protection
  • Compartment wall penetrations and firestopping

Attendees can also find out about fire-risk assessment when it comes to passive fire protection. The event is aimed at anyone involved in specifying or inspecting passive fire protection or appointing trades that could cause damage to existing fire protection when carrying out their work will find the event useful.

This encompasses practising fire-risk assessors, responsible persons, facilities managers or anyone who works for a local authority, building control or care-home provider.

Further events are planned in Leeds, Scotland and London.
