PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION

Scottish response to Grenfell to feature in upcoming ASFP CPD seminar

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has announced a CPD seminar it is holding in Perth, Scotland on 25 April 2018.

The free-to-attend event will outline the latest best practice in passive fire protection, with a specific focus on the vital role of compartmentation.

Backed by Aviva Insurance and Local Authority Building Standards Scotland, Understanding Passive Fire Protection will include a beginner’s guide to the types of passive fire protection systems found in buildings and why correct specification, installation and maintenance are so vital.

Colin Hird (MRICS, MIFireE), head of fire, structure and certification in the Scottish government’s building standards division, will report on his government’s response to Grenfell.

Presentations from technical experts will cover all aspects of in-built fire protection, including:

  • Fire doors and hardware
  • Fire-resistant glazing
  • Fire ducts and dampers
  • Structural fire protection
  • Fire curtains
  • Firestopping

Delegates can also network with passive fire protection specialists, including manufacturer and installer members of the ASFP exhibiting at the event.

The seminar will start with breakfast at 8.45am and close at 12.45am.

Who should attend?

  • Fire risk assessors
  • Duty holders
  • Facilities managers
  • Care home providers
  • Local authorities
  • Building control officers
  • Approved inspectors
  • Insurance surveyors
  • Fire service officers
