Women in Security 2020 awards to be broadcast live on 10 February

After the Women in Security Awards 2020 was postponed last September due to the pandemic, it will now be taking place as a live virtual event on Wednesday 10 February.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast live from The Belfry, which is transforming one of its exhibition rooms to replicate a TV studio. The broadcast will start at 7, available via Youtube (link below).

Covid-secure event

Roy Cooper, Managing Director of Professional Security, will compere the ceremony in the converted exhibition room at the Birmingham venue that now has stage, screen, lighting and camera for such ‘COVID-secure events’. Sponsors (CIS Security, the NSI, FSA, Pyronix, QCIC, Security Institute and SSAIB) will read citations after an opening video by Yasmeen Stratton, as Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP), this year’s industry body host; and Una Riley, the patron and founder of the awards.

Roy, who was a judge for last year’s IFSEC Global Influencer Awards, said: “We have had more nominations than we had last year. The quality of nominations is very high, and it’s going to be very difficult for the judges to decide, because they are all worthy winners. There are some fantastic achievements.”

The award judges were looking for women who have gone above and beyond their job spec.
