Decorators and allied trades can now reduce the risk of fire spreading by using PyroGuardian, a flame retardant dust sheet which has been released by Rodo.
Gary Bent, Rodo’s marketing manager describes why such a product is needed. “A typical cotton twill dust sheet burns to a cinder in less than two minutes, helping to rapidly spread a fire, generating huge amounts of blinding and choking smoke and presenting a serious obstacle to escape – yet it’s something that’s almost never considered.”
The coating on the PyroGuardian is said to dramatically slow, or even prevent altogether, the spread of flame. “All the fabrics and coatings that are prescribed by specifiers are fire rated, so why compromise on safety when the decorators are in?” added Mr Bent. The sheet has been tested by Bodycote and certified to BS 476:1997 Part 7.
