Media City UK is the home of BBC North, a multi-million pound studio facility, a new University of Salford campus, and now Prysmian FP fire resistant cables.

The task of establishing the BBC’s home in Salford – a huge project with the ultimate goal of making the corporation less “London-centric” – has been ongoing for some years now.

And now the development’s first food shop has opened, with Prysmian fire resistant cables specified by installers Solid State Security.

The £1.2 million shop, Booths Food Store, uses FP200 Gold for the fire alarm system with FP Plus used in the disabled refuge and cafe area.

Mark Mather of Solid State Security said, “FP200 Gold and FP Plus were specified for this project due to the products’ all-round quality and the fact that they have all necessary third party approvals.

“The cable can be stripped with ease, enabling the installation process to be quick and efficient. My team particularly like the added benefit of the easy-to-carry reels as the handle allow us to get the cable on site with improved speed.”
