MITIE rebrands security business under Total Security Management banner

MITIE Total Security Management is now one of the UK’s largest security businesses, with 12,000 people protecting the premises and personnel of 4,000 clients at over 10,000 sites right across the UK and mainland Europe.

The security division’s new name reflects MITIE’s integrated approach to security provision – via its consultancy, innovation and delivery model – which is designed to offer clients higher service levels with greater cost efficiencies.

The message to end users on the dedicated MITIE TSM website reads as follows:

“Total Security Management (TSM) is at the heart of what we do – it allows us to provide you with the right mix of security services to keep your people, buildings and assets safe. Our unique integrated and risk-based approach means that whether you need one or all of the services we offer, you’ll get exactly what you need.”

“Making strategic security decisions supports the smooth running of your business. That’s why we take time to understand the unique needs of all elements of your business before recommending the most cost-effective approach to providing you with security.”

“We’ll work with you to help define your needs and ensure that your security strategy fits with your corporate objectives – allowing you to focus your time on running your business. Whether you’re looking to re-shape your security provision, expand it due to organisational growth or want to align your security with environmental objectives, we can help. We’ll establish what you actually need, giving you a streamlined provision.”

“The benefit to you? A single team working together to make sure you get exactly what you need.”

The very ethos of MITIE security

Speaking about this latest development, Bob Forsyth – the managing director of MITIE Total Security Management – told SMT Online: “Total security management has been our ethos for over a year now: taking our clients’ risks and threats into consideration, moving away from the traditional commoditised approach and using innovation at every opportunity.”

Forsyth continued: “We are making a step change in the security industry with TSM, and our belief in this approach is so strong that we have changed our name to reflect that fact.”

MITIE has made significant investments in innovation over the last year or so, for example with the formation of an expert security risk and business resilience team.

As reported on SMT Online, the company also appointed Brett Lovegrove (former head of counter-terrorism at the City of London Police) as a strategic advisor to the business on public sector security issues and for MITIE TSM clients in general.

Opening of the MiTec security hub in Northern Ireland

Only last month, MITIE opened a new multimillion hi-tech security centre in Northern Ireland. Dubbed MiTec, this is one of the UK’s most advanced security hubs and exemplifies the company’s TSM approach.

Again, as reported exclusively by SMT Online, MiTec’s features include round-the-clock remote CCTV monitoring and maintenance, vehicle and asset tracking, employee screening services, intruder/fire alarm monitoring, disaster response and contingency management.

There’s also a capability to cover building management system alarm monitoring and various command and control applications.
