Nomura security operation wins Contract Quality Marque award for Wilson James

This latest award is the sixth Contract Quality Marque presented to Wilson James contracts across the UK since the scheme was introduced in 2009 by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI).

The Contract Quality Marque was developed by the NSI with the support of the BSIA, Skills for Security and various industry stakeholders, and is a standard that goes well beyond traditional industry benchmarks.

In essence, it’s designed to assess a supplier’s processes and procedures, as well as working conditions for on site security officers.

As the name suggests, the Marque can only be achieved on a contract-by-contract basis, and only subsequent to independent inspection having been carried out by the NSI’s auditors.

Recognition of enhanced contract criteria

By auditing a company’s performance against a specific site, the Contract Quality Marque recognises enhanced contract criteria, including the ‘softer’ issues that contribute to staff motivation and job satisfaction.

This includes, for example, prescribed minimum sick pay, personal development plans and improved working conditions.

Stuart Lowden, managing director of Wilson James, and Mark Hounslow (the executive director, operations, real estate and services at Nomura) were presented with the award at a recent ceremony.

Lowden – whose company is NSI Guarding Gold approved and also registered on the Security Industry Authority’s Approved Contractor Scheme – outlined the significance of the Contract Quality Marque.

“I’m delighted to see our contract at Nomura achieve the Contract Quality Marque. It’s a standard that truly recognises what Best Practice really looks like within our sector.”
