The Investors in People standard provides a recognised framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of their people. It can afford companies a benchmark and a template outlining future business development through investment in members of staff.
This formalises (and provides public recognition of) the NSI’s continuing commitment to staff development, which is an integral part of providing the highest performance for the benefit of NSI approved companies, their customers and specifiers alike.
Andrew White, the NSI’s chief executive, commented: “Gaining Investors in People status is a tremendous achievement and reflects positively on the NSI. We expect the companies we approve to achieve high levels of performance standards, and it’s vitally important that we also try to do this. Our low levels of staff turnover and the commitment shown by our employees are reflective of the NSI’s historical emphasis on investing in staff. However, working towards achieving Investors in People helped us to further improve the way we work and provides formal recognition of this commitment.”
All about the NSI
The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) is the leading approvals and certification body providing inspection services for the UK’s fire and security industries. The organisation exists for the benefit of customers and, for almost 35 years, has been protecting them by insisting on the highest standards and operating the toughest inspection regime.
The NSI works to meet the standards demanded by the police and fire and rescue services, as well as the insurance industry to reduce risks and keep insurance premiums at a minimum. There are over 1,500 approved security and fire company locations that meet the stringent NSI standards, and continue to do so on a daily basis.
