Creation of Triforensic BV

Recently, Interseco joined forces with the forensic accountants of IFO (the Dutch Institute of Financial Investigations) and the forensic IT specialists at Fox-IT to create Triforensic BV, an organisation that’s able to offer a full range of financial forensic investigation services.

This new organisation consists of seven partners and can draw on a pool of over 50 examiners with offices in Amersfoort, Delft, The Hague and Brussels.

The market for independent investigations has grown due to an increase in the amount of attention being paid to insolvency fraud, compliance and regulation, and a rise in the number investment fraud cases.

In addition, legal firms and interest groups are increasingly requesting that investigations be carried out into the liability of directors.

As Coen Mateijsen RA, the managing partner of the new organisation, explained: “Today’s forensic accountant cannot do without advanced computer investigation methods. They are vital when analysing extensive, complex financial databases or examining modern means of communication such as BlackBerry devices.”

Mateijsen added: “Fox-IT is the leading company in this area. Our combined investigative capabilities, in tandem with our independence, make us an appealing partner for auditors, regulators and lawyers, not least because we do not have any long-term relationships with clients.”

Combination of business administration, accountancy and IT

“Owing to the exponential growth in the volume of information and growing levels of complexity, traditional examination methods are no longer adequate,” said Dr Hans Henseler, managing partner of the IT specialists at Triforensic and lecturer in e-discovery at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences (HvA).

“A combination of business administration, accountancy and information technology is required in order for relevant information that is contained in digital evidence to be discovered and made available efficiently. This calls for close co-operation between forensic IT specialists, forensic accountants and private examiners who analyse content. All these capabilities have now been brought together in Triforensic.”

Peter van Rijn of Interseco added: “The business community and legal system do not yet make optimum use of the combination of these three forms of expertise. We hope that Triforensic will show this combination to be extremely effective.”
