As I write, it’s coming up to three o’clock in the afternoon on Christmas Day… At the Sims household here in still snowy and icy cold South Lanarkshire, the presents are unwrapped, the turkey’s roasting nicely in the oven (and making me feel hungrier by the minute!), Eddie (our wee Yorkshire Terrier) is running around the lounge and Her Majesty The Queen will soon deliver her annual message to the nation.
Of course not everyone will be at home with their family and friends this Christmas. Our brave soldiers, for example, continue to do their grand job – often in the most trying of circumstances – on foreign shores. For that, I thank them.
Also on duty today the length and breadth of the UK are many Security Industry Authority-licensed officers, protecting premises and the valuable commercial property within.
Similarly, police officers will be out on patrol, doing their level best to make sure our streets are safe places to be during the Christmas season.
Security Management Today (SMT) Online wishes all of these security and law enforcement operatives a safe and Merry Christmas, and thanks them for their sterling efforts.
Security is a 24/7, 365 business. Put simply, it never stops. On that basis, neither do we here at info4security/SMT Online. Keep checking back every day across the Christmas and New Year period. There’ll always be something fresh for you to read.
In addition, I’ll be posting a review of 2010 on the site that will be split across two days (30 and 31 December). Make sure you’re online for that!
Finally, on behalf of myself, Anthony Hildebrand (the Editor of info4security.com), our web content manager Amy Rowe and, indeed, all the team at United Business Media Live Division’s Security Portfolio, please accept our warmest wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
