False Fire Alarms: the Stark Statistics and how to Cut Callouts and Fines [Infographic]

Long the bane of fire and rescue services false alarms are now a costly headache for London businesses since the LFB started imposing fines for excessive unnecessary callouts.

False alarms also cost the taxpayer around £1bn every year. Although numbers of false alarms have fallen over the last 15 years, it’s still a huge problem.

The average response time to non-domestic building fires in England in 2014-15 was eight minutes 28 seconds, an increase of 21 seconds from the previous year, according a recent government report. False alarms certainly don’t help this.
