FIREX 2016: Watch Highlights from Europe’s Biggest Annual Fire-Safety Trade Show

Here are some highlights videos from the 2016 edition of Europe’s biggest annual trade show for the fire safety and fire-protection industries.

Across three days (21-23 June) FIREX International 2016 featured hundreds of products that help building owners or managers meet their legal obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (a landmark piece of legislation whose impact was discussed during the show in a presentation held in the Expertise & Guidance Theatre).

Attendees were also given five lessons to learn from a groundbreaking BRE Study into the causes and possible solutions to the ongoing false alarms problem.

With the UK electorate poised to shock the world by voting to leave the EU (an issue debated by a panel of leading figures in the fire and security figures on day three of the show, also polling day) some FIREX visitors also discovered that a new euro standard on false alarms was edging nearer.

Meanwhile, in the FPA Infozone, Peter Holland CBE,  the Home Office’s Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, pledged to improve transparency, diversity and value-for-money in the fire and rescue service.

In a panel session in the Expertise & Guidance Theatre delegates were told that educating the fire engineers of tomorrow was an “absolute moral imperative”.

Over in the FPA Fire & Evacuation Theatre Gary Hicks of Evac + Chair discussed the challenge of evacuating people from tall buildings during a fire.

And finally, check out this 45-Second Innovation Pitch from FES on its Actok autonomous fire extinguisher.
