Genetec to showcase GDPR-ready Security Center 5.7 at IFSEC 2018

Genetec has updated Security Center to comply with new GDPR regulations.

Security Center 5.7, which includes enhanced privacy protection for individuals and alerts for outdated camera firmware, will be on display at IFSEC 2018.

Taking effect across the EU (UK included) from 25 May 2018, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) will tighten rules on data protection and stiffen penalties for breaches. The regulations address the export of personal data outside the EU and aim primarily to give EU citizens more control over their personal data.

Security Center is an open-architecture platform that unifies IP-based video surveillance, access control, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), communications, and analytics. The latest version will let operators automate their security and privacy protection through intelligence modules and tools. It includes dynamic charts and graphs to allow operators to better understand their data and respond quickly to events.

“The lines between security and operations continue to blur, and organisations are increasingly looking for a better understanding of their environments and operations, as well as greater efficiencies,” says Paul Dodd, UK and Ireland country manager at Genetec.

“Security systems, sensors and data are invaluable sources of information that until now have been largely underutilised. Genetec solutions consolidate this information and convert unstructured data into actionable insight so organisations make data-driven decisions.”

Throughout IFSEC 2018, which takes place between 19-21 June at ExCeL London, Genetec experts will be on hand to demonstrate the company’s portfolio for security operations and intelligence. This includes the Genetec Trust Centre, a central repository of educational materials focused on cybersecurity, privacy and other security topics.

In addition the company will be demonstrating Genetec Mission Control, a collaborative decision and event management software package that provides organisations with better levels of situational intelligence, visualisation and incident management capabilities.

They will also be showcasing industry-specific applications, such as Traffic Sense and Airport Sense, which are designed to provide collaborative insights and intelligence to meet the needs of cities and airports, helping to maintain physical security, optimise traffic flow, and organisational efficiency.

Genetec is exhibiting at IFSEC International, 19-21 June 2018, ExCeL London. You can find them on stand C200. Register now.
