Reacton: Fire Suppression system installation for CNC machinery

In this FIREX Tech Talks, Reacton Fire Suppression runs through a typical installation of a Reacton 4kg indirect clean agent suppression system in a CNC machine, using 3M Novec 1235 protection fluid that is delivered through a single nozzle. The company explains its automatic fire suppression systems have been tested to rigorous standards and certifications, and are able to automatically detect then knock down a fire before it has an opportunity to take hold.

During the video, Reacton takes viewers through the installation process of one of its suppression systems in a CNC machine, beginning with fixing the initial bracket, through to best practice methods of fixing the nozzles, tubes and the manual override system.

Questions asked from the audience included:

  • What are the most common errors you’ve found when installing the system?
  • When you say ‘clean agents’, what does this mean?
  • Why is it so important for a suppression system to be installed with CNC machines?
  • Will the suppression system damage any of the components within the CNC machine if activated?
  • Can the system be integrated with an alarm/activation system to notify the appropriate person if it was activated?
