A smartphone designed to secure bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Priced at $799 SIKURPhone, from German cybersecurity firm Sikur, boasts an in-built cryptocurrency wallet.
The cryptocurrency market has exploded in the past year – from a global value of $21.4bn to $460bn.
This hasn’t escaped the attention of cybercriminals, with hackers recently stealing over $500m from a cryptocurrency exchange.
Sikur claims the 5.5-inch full HD phone smartphone has passed “rigorous hacking tests” with flying colours.
“If you lose your phone, we can remotely wipe it for you. You can get a new one, log in, and your funds will be safe, as your private keys are stored in our cloud,” Alexandre Vasconcelos, Sikur COO, told Mashable.
