Securitas acquires GRB Security in £2 million deal

GRB Security – the Walsall-based, National Security Inspectorate-registered security guarding contractor boasting annual sales of GB pound 4 million – has been bought out by Securitas.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor is also a BSIA Member Company, providing a full range of security services from its 24-hour Control Centre which complies with all the requirements of BS 7499 (for alarm/CCTV monitoring, key holding and alarm response) and BS 5979 (for Alarm Receiving Centres). The buy-out deal for GRB is said to be worth GB pound 2 million.

Formerly a detective in the Walsall and West Midlands Police, GRB Security’s managing director Maurice Jones previously spent six years as group security manager (and then personnel and Health and Safety manager) with a large West Midlands engineering group. Jones is also a founder member of the Council of the Institute of Security Management.

GRB Security currently employs 175 people operating out of its base on the Premier Business Park on Walsall’s Queens Road. All officers are selected and vetted in accordance with BS 7499:2002, BS 7858:2004, BS 7984:2001 and the relevant BSIA Codes of Conduct.

In addition, all personnel must attend a five-day Skills for Security training and company induction programme carried out by an in-house Skills-approved trainer. Further training on-site is then provided to ensure that officers are able to fulfil all the necessary requirements of site-specific assignments. The requirements of any assignment are then constantly monitored and periodically reviewed for suitability.

It’s believed that Securitas’ prime reasoning for making the acquisition is to strengthen its position in the West Midlands region.
