‘World’s Smallest’ HD Dome Camera by Avigilon: Exclusive Review

This 1MP and 2MP MicroDome Camera from Avigilon is reputedly the world’s smallest HD Dome Camera. The model we looked at is the Avigilon 2.0-H3M-DO1.

And it really is small. At the size of a golf ball (or half a Thomas the Tank Engine toy, if you prefer), it’s a tiny unit, something achieved by keeping the circuitry in the connector.

The image quality is great for a MicroDome camera, and apart from some slight image distortion, the image quality was right up there with other Avigilon cameras.

The size of the unit means that the mounting system is quite tricky, as is aiming the 2.8mm lens, and there’s no night functionality, despite being rated for outdoor use.

This camera could be really useful in residences, commercial offices, and retail locations and looks like it could really disrupt the budget end of the surveillance market.
