Speakers’ Details
Bob Bantock EngTech, GIFireE, MIFSM, Mifl, MIIAI, CFPA (Europe) Dip – National Trust
Bob has nearly 30 years fire safety experience. He is the Heritage Fire Safety Specialist for the National Trust where he also advices on matters concerning Emergency Planning and Crisis Management. He has a National Role and covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland dealing with fire related matters at all Trust properties, including the Trusts 350 Historic Houses.
Bob also represents the Trust at a number of strategic focus groups, including the Institute of Fire Engineers Special Interest Group (IFE SIG), the Fire Sector Federation (FSF) and South East Heritage Group, where he is the Vice Chair. Prior to joining the National Trust Bob was with East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.
Saba Naqshbandi – Three Raymonds Buildings Barristers
Saba Naqshbandi is a barrister with a national and international reputation for regulatory compliance, inquiries and inquests, acting for both regulators, corporates and individuals. With many years’ experience in fire safety, her cases include New LookRetailers (advisory stage to the Court of Appeal) and Lakanal House (inquests and investigation). She has particular expertise in the care home and social housing sectors and is well regarded for her tactical and commercial approach, being variously described in the legal directories as follows:

Steve Mills – NFSN
After leaving school in 1970, Steve entered the Merchant Navy as Navigating Officer where he eventually qualified to Master Mariner for foreign going vessels. Steve joined West Midlands Fire Service in July 1983 seeing operational service in Birmingham and the Black Country and has also worked in Training, Recruitment and Specialist Fire Safety roles.
In 2001 he moved to a Community Fire Safety role at HQ where he was involved, among other things, in the promotion of fire suppression systems, primarily in community housing projects, schools and heritage buildings.In 2008 he was awarded the NFSN Bernadette Hartley Memorial Award in recognition of his work within the field of Automatic Fire Suppression. Steve is an active and enthusiastic advocate for sprinklers and continues to serve the cause as Secretary of the National Fire Sprinkler Network. For the past five years Steve has been involved in the collation and dissemination of sprinkler ‘save’ information and other related fire data.
