FIM (Fire Industry Manufacturers) Expo, organised by the Fire Industry Association (FIA), will take place on Tuesday 19th October at Belfast’s Titanic Centre.
The event is designed in line with the FIA’s principal objectives to promote close liaison and improve standards in the fire industry, covering some of the most current pressing subjects and with a host of training programmes taking place.
Many of the industry’s leading fire detection and alarm manufacturers are said to be showcasing their latest products and developments at the event, and provides a useful opportunity for delegates to get ‘hands-on’ and compare, as well as converse with other experts and installers.
Free CPD-accredited seminars will take place to help enhance knowledge and skills of attendees, delivered by industry professionals. The seminar schedule is as follows:
FIA – Guidance on BS 7273 part 4 and part 6: 10:00–10:20
Advanced – The best route to compliance for your emergency lighting: 10:30–10:50
AICO – Domestic Alarm Technology: 11:00–11:20
FFE – Using Flame Detection in compliance with BS 5839-1: 13:00–13:20
Hochiki – BS 5839 Part 1 or Part 6: 13:30–13:50
Apollo – FAQ’s about EN54-23: 14:00–14:20
In addition, the FIA will be supplying training to professionals on the 18, 19, 20 and 21 of October in Belfast. The FIA’s new Fundamentals Qualification supports professionals to become more competent in line with Hackitt’s recommendations, by giving attendees a comprehensive introduction to the Fire Detection and Alarm (FD&A) sector and a core understanding of BS 5839-1. The FIA will also be providing training on servicing and maintaining portable extinguishers. For those who have already passed the FIA is delivering a refresher course which allows technicians to keep their skills and knowledge up to date – as per the recommendations of BS 5306.
