Suprema launches SFM6000 fingerprint-embedded modules

Suprema has launched a new series of fingerprint-embedded modules with a 1GHz processor for a wide range of applications, from access control to IoT.

The SFM6000 range is capable of achieving speeds of up to 5,000 matches per second and can store up to 25,000 fingerprint templates. Suprema has also developed the series for easier integration within open source hardware platforms, including Arduino and Raspberry pi.

Markets and verticals

  • Access control terminals
  • Time attendance devices
  • Door locks
  • Alarm panels
  • Safes
  • Vending machines
  • Automotive
  • Automated teller machines
  • Fast-growing Internet of Things (IoT) applications

Features

The SFM6000 series can be used for applications in harsh environments and the improved optical sensor structure provides IP65-rated ingress protection, whilst the operating temperature range is extended from -15℃ to 60℃.

SFM6000 Series also provides complete backward compatibility by maintaining SFM5000 and 3000s form factor and sensor types, allowing existing customers to access the improved benefits of SFM6000 Series fingerprint modules.

Suprema says

“The SFM6000 series is in response to dynamic market demands from leading global manufacturers. It will be the first choice for those aiming for best-of-breed fingerprint terminals and will also address growing demand from open source hardware applications … With biometrics becoming more popular for IoT, the SFM6000 series will provide our customers with a solution to penetrate into this emerging market,” said Brian Song, CEO of Suprema. “
