On the cusp of 2014, the year IFSEC International relocates to London, Y3K has thrown its support behind the show.
As reported last week in What Our Installers Told Us About IFSEC International, 75% of the IFSEC International audience feel travel to London will be more convenient than it had been to Birmingham. Y3K’s continued support acts as a further bolster to the show’s decision to move.
As reported in Professional Security, Paul Singh, CEO at the Y3K Group, a UK manufacturer and distributor of HD CCTV systems, said:
We had the option of participating in both IFSEC and a newly launched event, which is being held just one month earlier. As part of the decision-making process, I spoke with many industry colleagues and customers and asked them, firstly, if the industry needs two shows that are essentially in the same space and, secondly, if they would visit one, both or neither. The result was clear and IFSEC was the conclusive winner.
Support from such a major player in the CCTV space at a time when a potential competitor event is launching shows how the security industry is reacting to changes in the event landscape.
I spoke this morning with Simon Mills, Portfolio Director at UBM responsible for IFSEC, who told me:
We are naturally delighted to welcome the exclusive and continued support from Y3K. It is great to hear how the market is assessing and choosing which event to support, and this of course further backs up the heritage of IFSEC and our exciting London plans.

Its not surprising that Y3K would chose to support the IFSEC like they do because the event is right up their alley. Y3K has a wide product line that covers a lot of security needs and their mobile solutions have me thinking of doing something similar when my kids start driving.
Re-locating to the UK Capital would ensure the events would continue to be easily accessible for existing visitors as well as allowing the Series to take advantage of London’s status as a global business destination to attract even greater numbers of international attendees and it is increasingly important to all the partners. London, as a leading international venue will enable visitors to circulate more properly. As visitors’ requirements have changed over recent years, it has witnessed more and more visitors wishing to experience all the shows, not just one. It really would be a great experience for the Londoners and… Read more »
Sheh, exactly. It’s good that you pointed those factors out. It’s a more accessible location (not that it was exactly inaccessible before) but more people will have a chance to travel and check out IFSEC.
I wonder how much more expensive this location is than the NEC and whether stand holders really need to bring their A games to push for sales to make up for the increased costs?
Surely it depends upon where you live?
Easier for those who live in or near London (though I hear the underground isn’t always that efficient).
More difficult for those who live further away (who have had an easier journey for a number of years).
I guess proof will be in the pudding as they say round here.
Hi Holmesd, For London 2014 @ ExCeL we can offer exhibitors a much wider choice of stand locations which a far better crossover with the other co-Located shows within the P&M series; meaning more traffic passing the stands and no more ‘back of the hall’ locations which a problem @ NEC. In regards to pricing we have developed a new fairer ‘Flexible Pricing Matrix’ which enables the exhibitors to choose exactly how they would like to purchase their exhibition space taking into account; location, size and number of open sides. There are even locations for 2014 that are cheaper then… Read more »

I think the move to London will get more people re-interested in IFSEC, as I think it had waned slightly in the last few years
I agree and this will give IFSEC better, wider and larger audience

I agree with everyone’s sentiments here. I think the move is really a good decision. Here’s to hoping that it will work out for the best.
