NEW APPOINTMENT

Advanced appoints Pete Browitt of Apollo Fire Detectors as new managing director

Global fire systems manufacturer Advanced has announced the appointment of Pete Browitt, previously of Apollo Fire Detectors, as managing director, as Ray Hope retires from the role after 19 years.

Browitt was global finance director and then EMEA operations director at Apollo Fire Detectors, managing a manufacturing and supply chain of almost 400 people in Havant. Before that he worked as global finance director of Avire and spent 13 years at 3M in various financial and operational roles.

Advanced, Apollo Fire Detectors and Avire are all part of Halma Plc.

“It’s a real pleasure to lead such an outstanding business,” Browitt said. “Since joining Advanced I’ve been struck by the enthusiasm, passion and commitment of the staff here who have all been instrumental in the opening of our new headquarters at Balliol Business Park, North Tyneside, which marks the start of an important new phase in the growth of our company.

“We are in an excellent position to continue to drive Advanced forward and enjoy an outstanding track record of success in the future.”

Ray Hope will take up an advisory role within Halma for the next year.

Advanced solutions are installed in around 80 countries, supported by offices in the UK, US, India and Dubai. The UK operation recently consolidated four separate sites in Northumberland to one, 48,000 sq ft base in North Tyneside.

Advanced is a world leader in the development and manufacture of intelligent fire detection systems. Its products, which include MxPro multi-protocol systems, ExGo extinguishing control and LuxINTELLIGENT emergency lighting testing, are found in everything from single panel installations to large, multi-site projects.

Major projects include London’s Shard building, an exclusive Knightsbridge hotel, and an 290-Year-Old American church. Advanced products include complete fire detection systems, extinguishing control panels, fire paging and false alarm management systems.

Advanced recently published a fire protection brochure aimed at historic or heritage sites.
