Intelligent fire systems designed, manufactured and supplied by the North-East-based firm now protect more than 60 Tube stations.
All Advanced systems on the Underground network are fully integrated with sprinkler systems and include a device to monitor escalators – a critical location where fire safety is concerned. Many also have a repeater panel, meaning the fire system can be controlled and monitored from several locations within the station.
Transport hubs are particularly critical and complex environments in which to install, integrate and maintain fire systems. However, some environments are more challenging than others.
The most complex Advanced installations were on the Jubilee line, where Stratford has six networked MxPro panels and Waterloo Tube station has five, while the deepest installation was at Hampstead – dropping more than 30 metres below ground level.

Operating since 1863, the London Underground shuttles five million commuters daily and one billion passengers a year between 270 stations across the capital.
Approved to EN54 parts 2, 4 and 13, MxPro 5 panels can be used in single loop, single-panel format or configured into high speed, 200-panel networks spanning large areas and tens of thousands of field devices.
Advanced says MxPro can be customised to almost any application – including the most challenging – courtesy of being simple to install and configure plus the availability of a wide range of peripherals.

MxPro fire systems support two new technologies, the TouchControl touchscreen repeater and AlarmCalm complete false alarm management system.
TouchControl is a 10” HD touchscreen that provides dynamic reporting and control via a unique interface that includes Active Maps and zone plans. AlarmCalm uses Advanced’s fast hardware, updated config software and optional loop verification devices to reduce false alarms.
Advanced solutions are installed in around 80 countries, supported by offices in the UK, US, India and Dubai.
Advanced solutions, which also include ExGo extinguishing control and LuxINTELLIGENT emergency lighting testing, are found in everything from single panel installations to large, multi-site projects.
