“Best of its kind”

Hochiki Europe’s false-alarm-rejecting ACD-EN multi-sensor arrives in Europe

Hochiki Europe is introducing what it describes as its most sophisticated multi-sensor yet to the European market.

Part of the life safety group’s ESP intelligent sensor range, the ACD-EN features new technology designed to reduce false alarms.

The Fire Industry Association (FIA) recently published a report showing that multi-sensor detectors are more effective at rejecting false alarms, which cost the UK taxpayer more than £1bn each year, than alternative sensors.

Conducted in conjunction with the BRE, its findings have been endorsed by Hochiki Europe, whose general manager for sales and marketing recently spoke to IFSEC Global about its forthcoming appearance at FIREX 2018 and marking its 100-year anniversary this year.

Features

  • 24 EN-approved modes of operation incorporating smoke, heat and carbon monoxide (CO) detection to suit a range of environments
  • Automatically adjusts sensitivity based on surroundings. Round-the-clock environmental monitoring minimises likelihood of false alarms
  • Integrated CO detection cell enhances response to fire
  • 10-year cell lifespan is among the longest in the marketplace

Hochiki Europe says

“After 100 years of innovation we are extremely proud to be launching this advanced sensor into the market at a time when building owners and duty holders are under extreme pressure to safeguard their occupants against the threat of fire, whilst at the same time significantly reducing the risk of false alarms,” said David Brown, product manager at Hochiki Europe.

“We have already received a number of enquiries for this device, with its revolutionary use of innovative sensing algorithms and the combination of three sensing elements, we believe the ACD-EN is the best of its kind on the market and of the superior standard that our customers have come to expect from Hochiki Europe’s products.”
